I’ve been trying to get to the office all morning, today I’ve looked for every excuse there is not to work. Yes… even I, who love what I do, have days like that. It’s horrible to see the checklist grow just because that day my focus was not aligned with my purpose. I have techniques to be productive again when faced with days like this and I want to share with you my strategies to fall into my center and be able to execute. I want to focus on working hand in hand with you on how we rescue ourselves in moments when our mind, heart, environment or acquaintances do not cooperate, resulting in a lack of focus. Find a pencil and let’s work together so that this new year we can write a success story.

Short-term strategies to strengthen your mind:

  1. Determine your current mental focus: Reality frustrates many people, but you must redesign the way you see it, because you should not have a negative feeling about something that is designed to give you a starting point. Reflect on where you are currently and if you continue to act in the same way where you are going.
    • Describe your current mental focus
    • Detail what things you are doing when your focus is not in an optimal place and what things are sabotaging you when working on your goals.
    • Write down the consistent intentional action you will take to avoid losing focus.
  2. Regulate distractions: How difficult is this nowadays, since we have entertainment at our fingertips, but start little by little. Start by putting your cell phone on silent to sleep and blocking your toxic family members during moments of productivity or peace. Don’t bring your cell phone to the table, allocate time to check your emails and don’t use your cell phone while you’re talking to your partner. Designate strict work hours and do a social media detox at least once a month.
    • Reflect on your lifestyle and identify when you need to minimize distractions
    • Create a list of things and/or situations that distract you
  3. Train your brain: You are what you do, but what you say determines with which lenses you read the map. Self-imposed restrictions and paradigms are real. BE CAREFUL with your mental conditioning! It’s also important to accept when your mind is asking you for a break. Not everything can be about consuming information until it is drained. Sometimes the mind doesn’t want to analyze, just process. At those times it is good to watch your favorite series, walk and observe a landscape or go to eat lunch in a place with a panoramic view. Listen to your body, but prepare the way in your routine so that it begins to accept healthy habits to feed the mind.

We are products of our decisions. To achieve our goals we must be aware that it is inevitable to be distracted from time to time, which is why it is essential to have an action plan to refocus and make acting a priority. Time flies and what you do every day will be the compass taking you to the map that will help you achieve your goal or fail at it.
