The Importance of Proper Car Functioning

10/24/2023

Nothing is more terrifying for a driver than having their vehicle’s “Check Engine” light turn on or seeing a gauge go higher than normal midway through a journey – except for the gas gauge, of course.

These signals make their presence known to drive properly and without putting stress on what is considered an individual’s most important mechanism: the car. For many experts, a car in good conditions has a positive influence on daily life, economy, and the lifestyle of each person.

The effect of owning a “healthy” automobile is highly satisfying, as you can be confident that it will maintain the same performance over the next years if you provide it with the necessary care.

A car in good condition will also give you the opportunity to travel with greater safety, not only for yourself and your family but for everyone around you while driving.

Tips for maintaining the car in good condition

Every two months

Brake fluid: Check or assess the brake fluid level every 60 days (two months). If the level is low, top up the fluid.

Air filter: Check this filter every 2 or 3 months, especially if you live or drive in dusty areas.

Every three months

Battery: Check its levels every three months. If necessary, add battery fluid or distilled water for cleaning.

Oil: It is advisable to change the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or every three months. Over time, the oil begins to lose its properties and this is harmful to the engine.

When necessary

Belts: Belts are changed every 25,000 miles or when the car indicates through its signals. This maintenance will ensure optimal engine performance.

Lights: Make sure that both the front and rear lights are functioning properly. This point is one of the most important and also the easiest to fix. Just a couple of replacement bulbs and fuses are enough to ensure everything runs correctly.

Furthermore, keeping the engine and other car parts well-maintained will prevent a multitude of complications. If these issues arise, they can lead to significant expenses. As long as you follow these details to the letter, you can drive your car with peace of mind and ensure a longer life for your vehicle.
